Beck, James Burnie (1822-1890) Section K, Lot 9 Having moved to America from Scotland in 1838, then to Lexington in 1843, James Burnie Beck graduated from Transylvania University and began to practice law. He was a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1867 to 1875, and the Senate from 1877 to 1890. In 1848, he married Jane Thronton, a stepdaughter of Kentucky Governor James Clark.
